Inauguration Ceremony – Ribbon Cutting of the USA Pavilion at DEFEA 2021

The Inauguration Ceremony – Ribbon Cutting of the USA PAVILION at DEFEA 2021 was held on Tuesday, July 13, with great success and large participation of senior officials
from the political, military, and diplomatic sectors and representatives of the business community.

Mr. Nikolaos Bakatselos, President, American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Heidi H. Grant, Director, Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt, Ambassador of the United States to the Hellenic Republic and Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, Minister of National Defense conducted the ribbon cutting. Ms. Liz Wilson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Defense Exports and Cooperation and Major General Joe Jarrard, Deputy Commanding General for Army National Guard were among the distinguished guests. A walkthrough of the USA Pavilion followed the ceremony, and the delegation had the opportunity to meet and discuss with representatives of the 32 American defense industry companies which are participating and exhibiting state-of-the-art equipment and services.

A briefing breakfast session took place in the morning before the opening of the fair, for the USA Pavilion Exhibitors to be informed on the defense market in Greece and the wider region.

AmCham President Nikolaos Bakaselos, AmCham Executive Director Elias Spirtounias and U.S. Embassy representatives, Michele Siders, Political Counselor, Carl Watson, Deputy Economic Counselor, John Scimone, Major, U.S. Army, Army Programs Manager, Office of Defense Cooperation, Nick Papachryssanthopoulos Commercial Specialist, USCS Athens, U.S. Embassy provided a thorough review of Greece’s current status to the US Pavilion exhibitors.

The Political Environment between U.S. & Greece, the Economic relations between U.S. & Greece, an Update on the Office of Defense Cooperation services and the USCS services and its supporting role to U.S. firms were among the topics.

The announcement of the organization of the 8th HELLENIC PAVILION at AUSA 2021 took place during DEFEA 2021 Exhibition at the Metropolitan Expo. AUSA 2021 Annual Meeting and Exposition will be held 11-13 October 2021 at the Walter Washington Convention Center, USA.

AmChamGR President Nikolaos Bakatselos, Executive Director and Member of the Board of the Enterprise Greece Betty Alexandropoulou, and AmChamGR Executive Director Elias Spirtounias invited Greek defense companies representatives to join the 8th Hellenic Pavilion at AUSA 2021 in Washington DC, organized under the Auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence-General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments and with the support of Enterprise Greece.
